Esteban Escobar Files Discrimination Complaint Against Lianna Grigorian, Silvia Manukian, Hakoub A. Shirvanian, Co-Trustee of the Shirvanian Trust, and Your Management & Real Estate Group

North Hollywood, CA – February 3, 2025 – Esteban Escobar has filed a formal discrimination complaint with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) against Lianna Grigorian, Silvia Manukian, Hakoub A. Shirvanian, Co-Trustee of the Shirvanian Trust, and Your Management & Real Estate Group for unlawful housing practices, including wrongful eviction, discrimination, and retaliation.

The complaint details actions taken by Lianna Grigorian and Silvia Manukian, who managed the property under Your Management & Real Estate Group, and Hakoub A. Shirvanian, the property owner. Esteban Escobar alleges that he was subjected to discriminatory treatment based on his disability and was wrongfully evicted in September 2023. Furthermore, Your Management & Real Estate Group withheld his security deposit and made false damage claims, totaling over $4,000, while also improperly collecting two Section 8 rent payments for October and November 2023, after Esteban moved out in September 2023.

Despite repeated requests for reasonable accommodations under federal and state law, Lianna Grigorian, Silvia Manukian, Hakoub A. Shirvanian, and Your Management & Real Estate Group failed to act in accordance with the Fair Housing Act and California’s Fair Employment and Housing Act. Escobar asserts that this negligence and mistreatment violated his rights as a tenant and resulted in unnecessary hardship.

"I have worked tirelessly to follow the rules, maintain my residence, and request the necessary accommodations for my disability," said Esteban Escobar. "However, Lianna Grigorian, Silvia Manukian, Hakoub A. Shirvanian, and Your Management & Real Estate Group ignored my legal rights, retaliated against me, and subjected me to unfair practices."

The discriminatory actions described in the complaint include the wrongful eviction, the withholding of Escobar's security deposit without proper documentation, false damage claims, and improper handling of Section 8 payments. These actions have caused significant distress to Escobar, who has since sought legal redress.

Esteban Escobar is requesting that HUD investigate the allegations and hold Lianna Grigorian, Silvia Manukian, Hakoub A. Shirvanian, and Your Management & Real Estate Group accountable for their actions. Escobar’s complaint aims to secure a full refund of his security deposit, the return of unlawfully collected Section 8 payments, and appropriate damages for the emotional and financial distress caused by these discriminatory practices.

Escobar’s complaint also highlights the broader issue of housing discrimination and calls for increased accountability in the management of rental properties to ensure that tenants’ rights are protected.
